Launched August 2nd, The DFW Bayanihan Press is the official digital publication of The Pilipino American Community Endeavor with the latest in community news and highlights.
With over 80,000 Filipinos in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, there are countless stories of our community ongoing and previously that have yet to be told. These are stories we believe deserve to be heard.
Founded by André Averion, a nationally award-winning journalist from his time at The Mercury Newspaper, The Bayanihan Press is a monthly volunteer publication focused on reporting the latest news, arts, events, and history most relevant to the DFW Filipino American community. The goal of the publication is to tell the stories of our community that nobody else is telling, record history as it occurs and promote communication across the community with uncompromising integrity and quality.
Two to five articles of varying community interest will be released at the beginning of each month alongside the Bayanihan Newsletter, which will feature one of these articles. Topics may vairy, including PACE events, community events, business profiles, individual profiles, art profiles, local developments, recorded history, and general news that would be of direct impact to the general Filipino American community.
A Brief Editorial from André Averion:
I am proud to be of service to my community, and I am excited at this opportunity to share news and communication through the support of PACE. My ambition is that this effort will not only, finally, create a consistent voice and bring notice to our DFW community, but offer a chance to empower our community through the pursuit of knowledge and documentation. History is happening in our community, and we should be proud this will be the age to move it forward. I believe every Filipino American should have to chance to understand their heritage, whether in the Philippines, United States or even DFW; and intimately know their community. That starts by telling stories, meeting with each other, and putting the pieces together. That's what I intend to do, one story at a time.
