The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas, Texas, competing in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference.
The franchise was originally founded in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars before relocating to Dallas in 1993 and adopting its current name. The Stars play their home games at American Airlines Center, an arena they share with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas has a history of success, capturing one Stanley Cup championship in 1998–99 and winning multiple division and conference titles. Over the course of its history, the franchise has appeared in the Stanley Cup Final five times and has earned nine division championships, two Presidents’ Trophies for the best regular‑season record, and three Western Conference championships.
The team’s colors are victory green, black, silver, skyline green, and white, and its current captain is Jamie Benn. The Stars’ minor league affiliates include the Texas Stars (AHL) and the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL).
